President's Message

A Message from the President

Greetings,  I am elated to serve as the 46th President of Beta Delta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated!   Beta Delta Omega chapter received its charter on May 28, 1934 in Tougaloo, Mississippi. It has the distinct honor of being the first Graduate chapter chartered in the state.  We have over 360+ members who all come together with one common bond and commitment to provide "service to all mankind."

For over eighty-nine years, we have provided exemplary service to the Jackson Metropolitan area. Beta Delta Omega, in collaboration with community partners and our non-profit arm, the Coleman Alexander Prosser Foundation, Incorporated, awards scholarships annually to high school students attending historically black colleges and universities. We have endowed scholarships at both Tougaloo College and Jackson State University where we have served as the supervising chapter to Gamma Omicron (Tougaloo College) and Gamma Rho (Jackson State University) Chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated since 1949.

Our partnerships with the Bethlehem Center, Jackson Public School System, Habitat for Humanity, Ambassadors of the Evers Academy for African American Males, Metro Jackson Pan-Hellenic Council, Stewpot Community Services and Harmony Court Nursing Home have contributed millions of dollars and thousands of service hours to positively impact the Jackson Metro area.

Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, through its 300,000 members and 1,018 chapters, will address community needs under our new international program, “Soaring to Greater Heights of Service & Sisterhood,” in six program initiatives: Strengthen Our Sisterhood, Empower Our Families, Build Our Economic Wealth, Enhance Our Environment, Advocate for Social Justice and Uplift Our Local Community.

If you are a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and looking to affiliate with a local chapter, our doors of service and sisterhood are open to you! If you are visiting or plan to relocate to the Capital City, we invite you to connect and bring your expertise to Beta Delta Omega! You will find a chapter United in Sisterhood and Service.

Yours in service,

Sharron U. Williams
